Mexico 1916

On March 12, 1916, the Regiment under the command of Colonel James Lockett started the Regiment's move to Mexico as part of the Punitive Expedition. The Regiment would stay in Mexico until February 5, 1917. The following pictures were taken of the Regiment during the campaign.

LTC Robert L. Howze who on May 5, 1916, commanded the last cavalry charge at the village of Ojo Azules.  Howze started the campaign as a Major.

Troopers take a drink from the well pump. The Blackhorse drilled their own wells when water sources were not available.

Scout Geert Viel reports to the camp commander, COL John Beacom. COL Beacom would have an Army camp named after him in Calexico, California, which elements of the Regiment occupied from 1917 - 1920.
